About Us

Juneberry78s first went online in June 2005 with me (Tom "Norm" Morrison) as the webmaster.
Previously we are online as Norms78s from 2002 - 2004.

The website grew from my love of Music, Collecting and Command Line Computer Coding.

As a child in Alameda California I always loved music. At about the age of three I had my first record player. I had some "Little Golden" Records (78s of course). Titles like The Rock Island Line, Oh, Susanna, Old MacDonald, etc. At the age of eight I began public school clarinet lessons followed by private lessons. At age ten I went to my first jam session and we had a combo of clarinet, sax and trombone. By the age of eleven I tired of the clarinet but enjoyed listening to the radio. KEWB was then still a music station and played not only Rock and Roll but also some Country, Rhythm and Blues, Folk, Comedy and Pop. In one hour you might hear Elvis, Fats Domino, Johnny Horton, The Brothers Four, Alan Sherman, Nat King Cole and Percy Faith. I soon began to purchase 45 RPM Records by The Everly Brothers, Elvis, The Miracles and others. Through networking at school I began visiting with other kids at my house or theirs. We would listen to each other's records, sometimes trade or go shopping at the local record store (Franck's Music). We all watched Ed Sullivan and were introduced to the Beatles, Rolling Stones and other musical performers. I soon discovered Leadbelly, Woody Guthrie, Mississippi John Hurt through Pete Seeger's TV show and my musical journey was forever changed.

I first began collecting coins and stamps. These were inexpensive hobbies. You'd buy a book to store the items. I went to the bank and got rolls of pennies to fill as many spaces in the book as possible. Later I went for nickles then dimes, etc. Stamps you could get by soaking a mailed envelope in water and the stamp would come off.
